Scope of Work
The AWAL Junior professional (JP) are aged between 18-25 and are given a 2 years contract to work on a specific area. The first year of the program is an extensive learning experience and the rest of the time is spent on working between different departments to prepare the young professional for an extraordinary change maker career with AWAL. The program prepares youth in the first year to become an expert in an area to succeed. The JP will work in an extensive startup environment that relies on quick turnaround, heavy learning, self-discipline, and portability. AWAL thrives to call itself as a transformative agency and in order to gain that respect, the JP is the champion that will learn and produce results in order for AWAL to stand up to its name.
Below are the JP openings for this batch:
Software Engineering (4 Vacancies)
Directly working under the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) the JP will be responsible for learning how the current systems operate and the core system development methodology that AWAL has developed. Upon learning the technologies, the JP will be assigned smaller tasks and then eventually will be given the opportunity to work as a team member in a bigger project. Foundational level understanding of computer science and coding frameworks is a must and further would depend on the learning capacity of the JP.
Interested Individuals must have prior experience with computers and coding.
Program/Strategy (2 Vacancies)
AWAL establish entities as our own products that tend to assist AWAL in achieving its goal and we work on non-permanent projects with our partners (government, local NGOs, Donors, private entities etc). Our biggest project (AWAL initiatives) right now is the ASEEL Platform (view more at https://aseel.xyz) and we have multiple on-going bids on non-permanent opportunities. Other programs include ITRCA (https://itrca.af), Comsis Solutions (https://comsissolutions.com) and a partnership with AMS and a medical tech innovations firm. These JPs will be working directly under the Chief Strategists office in order to support these projects. Within the first one year, a lot of the focus of the JP will be on learning extensive management and business operations ideas, later; the JP will become a project manager if succeeded and later on become an active part of the Strategy team.
Interested individuals must possess excellent business, leadership skills and are not shy of communicating.
Products Management (2 Vacancies):
Directly working with the Products Manager the main area of the JP will be to identify products, market, understand them and sell them globally. One of the biggest areas that initially the JP will be working on will be the ASEEL app; however, further products will be introduced to Afghanistan and globally with AWAL and the Products Management JP will be the go-to person for them. There is a lot of opportunities for exploration, innovation and travel in this area. The JP will be provided with visual audio/video equipment and will be trained heavily on social media usage.

Multimedia (Photography, Videography, Graphics and Content Creation) (2 Vacancies):
Directly working with the Products Manager the main area of the JP will be to identify products, market, understand them and sell them globally. One of the biggest areas that initially the JP will be working on will be the ASEEL app; however, further products will be introduced to Afghanistan and globally with AWAL and the Products Management JP will be the go-to person for them. There is a lot of opportunities for exploration, innovation, and travel in this area. The JP will be provided with visual audio/video equipment and will be trained heavily on social media usage.

Qualification of the JPs (Regardless of the specialized areas):
Excellent Written and Verbal Communication in English and local languages.
The JP is trustworthy, wants to make a difference and is interested in making a change.
The JP understand design-thinking and has a keen eye and interest for innovation.
The JP is a fast learner, highly creative, driven individual who can work on their own.
Can last in a fast paced extensive environment.
All JPs will be tested on (1) English Communications Test and (2) Technical Test depending on the area selected.
The first year of the 2 years’ program is counted as an internship as an entry program and all the YPs will be paid transport and stipend only.
The second-year upon successfully passing the evaluation, the JP will be provided with an entry level (G1) salary as per AWALs HR rules.

Testing Round 1: Thursday, 17th 2019.
Testing Round 2: February, 2nd, 2019.
